Defeat the Enemy Within to Become Unstoppable

There’s an old proverb that suggests, “If there is no enemy within, the enemy outside can do us no harm.”

More often than not, we are our own worst enemies. We tend to be so hyper-critical and judgemental when it comes to our appearance, our abilities, and our actions. We become our own biggest tormentor, fueling so much self-directed frustration and criticism when we feel that we aren’t living up to the type of person that we believe we ought to be.

Nobody critiques you more than yourself.

Don’t be your own worst enemy

In the words of Charles Spurgeon, “Beware of no man more than yourself; we carry our worst enemies within us.”

The misery and unhappiness that we often experience in life are most often due to our thoughts and the way that we treat ourselves. Most suffering is the result of what’s taking place in our minds, rather than what’s occurring in our external environment.

There isn’t a single person other than yourself that is responsible for the way you think and feel. You control all of your beliefs and emotions.
